First Edition - Wrestling Passport Testing

Laughter, effort and plenty of mat time — our first Wrestling Passport testing day was one to remember!

On Saturday, 10 October, Highlands Sports Centre hosted its first Wrestling Passport testing session, bringing our young wrestlers together for a morning of challenges, learning and celebration.

The mats were full of energy as the children worked through their assessments, put their skills into practice and gave their best. There were plenty of smiles, lots of laughs and some fantastic effort throughout the morning. It was great to see such a strong turnout and so many children approaching the challenges with enthusiasm.

While testing was the focus of the morning, the real highlight was seeing the children put their training into action. Each child had the opportunity to challenge themselves, practise what they had learned and experience a different side of their wrestling journey. From working through familiar movements to tackling new challenges, every effort was a valuable part of the experience.

The Wrestling Passport gives our young athletes something to work towards beyond their regular classes. It creates opportunities to recognise their progress, build confidence and set new goals as they continue developing their skills. And progress is not always about getting a technique perfect. Sometimes, it is about giving something a go, showing persistence when a movement feels difficult or having the confidence to try again.

A successful morning like this takes a team effort. We would like to thank our coaches for preparing and guiding the session, and our parents for their continued support and encouragement. The great attendance and positive atmosphere made this first edition a fantastic start for our Wrestling Passport program.

This is only the beginning! As the children return to regular training, they will have more opportunities to develop their skills, work towards new milestones and prepare for future testing sessions. We are looking forward to seeing how much they grow before our next Wrestling Passport testing day.

To all our young wrestlers, well done for showing up, putting in the effort and being part of this first edition. You should be proud of what you have achieved!

At Highlands Sports Centre, every effort counts, every step forward matters, and every training session is another opportunity to grow.
